M.C.P. is internationally recognized for its exceptional mineral specimen preparation techniques and customer service, provided to dealers, collectors, museums, and mining companies around the globe. Beyond treatments applied to mineral specimens, we also specialize in processes for treatments to rough and cut gemstones. As well as performing state of the art restorations on carvings made from stone and semi-precious gems.
Our treatments include fundamental techniques and complementary techniques.
The specimens we process range anywhere in size from as small as the thumbnail category (a few centimeters square) up to examples weighing in at several hundred kilos! The examples come from recent discoveries in the mining world, as well as old classic specimens from historic collections. Specifically those which have never been processed by a lab in the past, or are in need of being reprocessed to achieve modern standards. We offer suitable preparation solutions for specimens requiring special care, such as very delicate samples, humidity sensitive species, and more. Every specimen we handle is afforded the proper level of care and attention it requires, without exception. And specimens belonging to the highest tier of quality and value are isolated and given special handling and care.
Since its formation, M.C.P. has processed tens of thousands of specimens which has created a wealth of experience and intellectual property in the form of techniques and applications that cannot be duplicated, all developed through careful research and experimentation, which represents the foundation of our approach to mineral specimen preparation. One of our important policies is to fully disclose to our customers all the treatments performed on their specimens. Costs are proportional to the level of processing required, and the timeframe necessary to complete the treatments is established with customers when their specimens are submitted to the lab.
